CHESTER COUNTY, S.C. – According to The Herald, a 16-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed by a teen driver Friday afternoon.

Master Trooper Gary Miller of the South Carolina Highway Patrol said the accident occurred on S.C. 901, near Edgemoor, around 1:20 p.m.

According to Miller, a 16-year-old pedestrian was walking southbound on the shoulder of S.C. 901 when a southbound motorist struck the pedestrian and then hit a tree.

Miller said the driver of the vehicle is also a 16-year-old. The teen driver was taken to Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill with injuries.

The Chester County Coroner’s Office has not released the name of the deceased, but coroner officials say the deceased was a male.

The identity of the driver has not been released because the driver is a juvenile, according to Miller.
