GREENVILLE COUNTY, SC. – Authorities are searching for a hit-and-run driver who seriously injured a cyclist on Saturday in Greenville County.
The accident occurred at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Fork Shoals Road at Reedy Fork Road (otherwise known as SC 50), just southeast of Donaldson Center Airport. According to WYFF News 4, the victim, 62-year-old Steve Duhon, was hit from behind while he was riding his bike on Fork Shoals Road.
The suspect’s vehicle was a small sedan that left the scene traveling west on Fork Shoals toward I-185. Authorities say that it will likely have damage to the front or right front headlight area. Eyewitnesses say the vehicle was speeding and never applied the brakes before hitting the cyclist.
Duhon suffered a severe concussion, fractured neck vertebrae, broken ribs, a broken leg, and severe lacerations to his face and body in the crash. He was released from the hospital on Tuesday but will require round-the-clock care, according to his family.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is urging anyone with information about the crash to call 1-800-768-1503, or Crime Stoppers of Greenville County at 864-23-CRIME 232-7463.
