One killed, another injured in head-on collision on Highway 296 on Wednesday

SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. –  A woman was killed and another person was injured in a head-on collision on Highway 296 late Wednesday.

According to WYFF News 4, the crash occurred at 9:40 p.m. on Highway 296 near Pinebrook Drive. A driver in a Dodge Challenger was traveling west when they crossed the center line and hit a Honda Civic head-on. The driver of the Dodge was identified as 42-year-old Sarah Rhinehart, of Union. She was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital shortly after the crash.

The driver of the Honda was also taken to the hospital, but the victim’s condition has not yet been reported.
