UPDATE: Cyclist recovering after hit-and-run accident; driver wanted by police

GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. – According to WSPA, a cyclist who was seriously injured in a hit-and-run accident is still recovering, while the driver is still wanted.

In an update to a previous story, Steve Duhon is still recovering after being struck by a vehicle on Fork Shoals Road around 2:30 p.m. on May 16th.

Duhon said, “Really the last thing I remember is just riding my bike…just normal.”

Duhon woke up in the hospital around six hours later with serious injuries, including a concussion and fractures in his vertebrae, rib, and leg.

A car hit him from behind and fled the scene without stopping, according to multiple witnesses.

Mary Salgado, a motorist who witnessed the collision from another lane, said, “It never even looked like the car was slowing down or slammed its breaks. It just hit the cyclist, and we noticed the cyclist just kind of fly up in the air.”

The hit-and-run driver is still at large. SCHP patrol says the driver in question was driving a small sedan, which may have damage to the front and front-right headlight areas of the vehicle.

Duhon remarked, “I’m still trying to get through my head that somebody could really actually do that. If something happens like that and you caused an accident, you should take responsibility for it.”
