AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. – Two people died in a head-on collision Thursday morning, according to WRDW.

South Carolina Highway Patrol said the deadly collision happened on Williston Road, near Independent Boulevard, around 6:20 a.m.

According to investigators, Dabron Fulton, 19, was headed east in a 2010 Chevrolet Impala when the vehicle crossed the center line and collided with a westbound 2005 Ford Excursion, driven by Jessie Kent, 46.

The collision pushed the Excursion off the road and down an embankment.

According to firefighters with the Silver Bluff Fire Department, both occupants were trapped inside their respective vehicles and had to be extricated. Aiken County emergency medical crews and members of the New Ellenton Fire Department aided in the process.

Aiken County Coroner Darryl Ables said Fulton was pronounced dead at the scene. Kent was taken to Augusta University Medical Center and was pronounced dead at 8:36 a.m.

Authorities said Kent was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, but Fulton was.

Police are continuing with an investigation of the crash. Toxicology reports are pending from the coroner.
