PACOLET, SC (SPARTANBURG COUNTY) – A teenager who recently graduated high school died in a car accident last night on South Carolina Highway 150, according to a report by WSPA.

The accident occurred near the intersection of SC-150 and Glenn Springs Road around 11:30 p.m. when 17-year-old Shelly Ann-Marie Burgess, of Jonesville, drove off the left side of the roadway in a 2000 Pontiac Firebird.

The Pontiac hit a tree and then turned over, killing Burgess at the scene and injuring a passenger, who was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-critical injuries.

Burgess recently graduated from Union High School.

The crash remains under investigation at this time.
