The Run-Down:

According to the Highway Patrol, a pedestrian was hit by an unknown vehicle on W. Faris Road on W. Faris Road near Welch St. at about 9 PM on Thursday, Dec 9th. The vehicle left the scene.

The Greenville County Coroner’s Office later identified the victim as 49-year-old Rusty Dale Blankenship, who died at the hospital.

A senior deputy coroner said, “For people traveling up and down the roads, these roadways, they’re not very well-lit, the weather’s bad, and there’s a lot more traffic out and people out walking with the holidays,” said Jenn Cason.

A Personal Injury Lawyer’s Perspective:

It’s always a tragedy when a person’s life is taken by a hit-and-run. This is why it is so important to have uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage. In a case like this, our personal injury lawyers would fight for the family to get the highest possible settlement. Although it can never bring back the life of a loved one, the financial help with covering funeral expenses and loss of family income can help ease the burden while the family grieves.

Additionally, the Hammack Law Firm advocates for trucking and automotive safety to make our roads safer as a whole. This is something we are extremely passionate about. Contact pedestrian accident lawyers today for free consultation.
