24-Year-Old Man Dies in I-77 Collision Near Richburg | Call (864) 326 - 3333

CHESTER COUNTY, SC – According to a local news report, a man from York County died on Interstate 77 south of Richburg on Tuesday.

The coroner’s office identified Aleksander Mark Doughty as the driver of the Ford sedan that rear-ended a truck before crossing the median into the northbound lanes. He then collided head-on with a tractor-trailer.

The accident happened at about 10:15 a.m.

Doughty was transported by helicopter to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte where he later passed away. The driver of the first vehicle Doughty struck was not injured. However, the driver of the tractor-trailer was taken to a local hospital for injuries.

The accident is still under investigation.
