4. Lane Departure Prevention Systems

This technology takes the LDW system a step further by taking over the vehicle when a driver begins to drift into another lane. LDP systems actually re-center the car to prevent head-on and side-swipe accidents.

According to INFINITI, the LDP system uses a camera to calculate the distance between the vehicle and lane markings. It is programed to engage the brakes selectively to correct the car’s trajectory.
