
GREENWOOD COUNTY, SC – Two people died in a head-on crash this afternoon on U.S. Highway 25 in Greenwood County.
Fox Carolina reports that the accident happened around 2:30 p.m., near South Carolina Highway 67, when a 2009 Chevrolet Impala collided head-on with a Chevrolet Silverado. The Silverado crossed the center line, into the lane of oncoming traffic, and struck the Impala.
The two occupants of the Impala, Greenwood resident Murice Brian Howard, 47, and Greenville man Jesse James Smith, 49, were trapped in the wreckage and died at the scene of the accident. According to a coroner’s report, the cause of death was blunt force trauma.
The Silverado’s driver, who has not been identified, was taken to the hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.
According to the coroner’s report, the death has been ruled accidental.
The incident remains under investigation at this time.
