Man dies after car crashes into cement truck; coroner identifies victim

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. – According to Myrtle Beach Online, the coroner has identified a man killed in a collision with a cement truck Tuesday morning.

The Horry County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as William Dickey, 32, of Myrtle Beach.

Horry County Fire Rescue said the accident took place at approximately 7:15 a.m., near the intersection of U.S. 378 and Dirty Branch Road.

South Carolina Highway Patrol Master Trooper Brian Lee said Dickey was driving a Ford Fusion when he tried to pass another motorist on the road. Dickey’s vehicle collided with a cement truck headed the opposite way.

Dickey was transported to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, where he died around 8:30 a.m.

The driver of the cement truck was not injured in the accident.
