The Details:

On Wednesday, December 7, at 6:29 a.m., a crash occurred on Highway 14 in Old Laurens County, leaving one person dead, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Troopers say the collision involved a 1995 Dodge Ram traveling west on Highway 14 and a 2012 Hyundai Elantra traveling east.

According to the highway patrol, after passing an unknown vehicle in a lawful passing zone, the driver of the Dodge Ram hit the Hyundai Elantra head-on.

The driver of the Dodge Ram was injured and taken to the hospital.

The driver of the Hyundai Elantra, identified by Laurens County Coroner’s Office as 32-year-old Dantavis Williams of Laurens, died at the scene.

A Personal Injury Lawyer’s Perspective:

We are heartbroken for the victim’s loved ones for their loss and send our sincerest thoughts and prayers to them.

The family of Williams could be eligible to file a wrongful death claim if there proves to be negligence on the part of the driver of the Dodge Ram. This claim could compensate them for lost income, medical bills, loss of services, and funeral and burial costs.
