Crash Alert: Tanker truck driver dead in fire

BARNWELL COUNTY, SC – The driver of an 18-wheeler has died after an accident on Monday morning, according to WJBF News.
The 18-wheeler tanker truck was driving on US Route 278 near SC-37 at about 3:42 a.m. when he ran off the road. The truck hit the ditch and caught fire.
The driver, who has not been identified, was pronounced at 5:28 a.m. The vehicle fire and blunt force trauma to his head were determined to have caused his death.
Investigators brought a forensic anthropologist in from Columbia to help identify the body.
The incident is still under investigation.
