Cherokee County Crash Results in 1 Dead and 1 Charged

The Details:
On December 27, 2022, at 11:46 a.m., a crash occurred on SC 18 at Matthew Drive. According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, 1 person was killed, and another was charged after the accident.
Troopers said A 2021 Ford utility truck was at the stop sign facing south, attempting to turn left when a 2000 GMC SUV traveling west on SC 18 crashed into it.
The driver of the GMC SUV was taken to the hospital, where they died on Saturday, December 31st. The victim has been identified by the Cherokee County Coroner’s Office as Scottie Bernard Washington, 50, of Gaffney.
The driver of the Ford utility truck was charged with failure to yield to the right of way.
