4-Year-Old Injured in Upstate Hit-and-Run Accident

The Details:
On Sunday, November 27, a 4-year-old child was hit by a car on Sanders Street in Honea Path while playing in his grandmother’s front yard, according to Chief Barry New with Honea Path Police Department. New stated the driver was quickly taken into custody.
The man has been arrested and charged with a hit-and-run with great bodily injury after he appeared before a judge on Monday afternoon. He has been identified as 58-year-old David Nelson Duphiney.
The Honea Path Fire Department said the injured child was airlifted to the hospital. His family has identified him as Jayce Rainey.
Rainey’s family says he was hit while riding his scooter on Sanders Street. The extent of his injuries is not known at this time.
