The Details:

The Greenville County Coroner’s Office reports that two people are dead and two are hurt after a chase involving the Greenville Police Department.

According to officers, the chase started when a reportedly stolen vehicle was spotted near Easley Bridge Road on May 11, around 9:45 p.m. When attempting to pull over the car, the driver allegedly would not stop.

The officers lost sight of the vehicle and deactivated their equipment, but shortly after, the vehicle crashed on Grove Road.

The crash resulted in one person passing away at the scene and three taken to the hospital, where one of them passed away due to severe injuries, according to officials.

The victims have been identified as 16-year-old Dekiyas Antione Workman Jr. of Piedmont and 14-year-old Jaedan Demone Pitts-Johnson of Greenville by the coroner.

Officers are still searching for the suspect who fled after the crash, and there is a continued investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers.
