1 Dead After Crash in Union County, South Carolina

The Details:

A driver who was killed in a crash in Union County, South Carolina, has just been identified by The Union County Coroner’s Office.

The crash occurred on July 27 on Highway 9 near Vaughan Road. According to South Carolina Highway Patrol, a 2000 Chevrolet pickup truck heading South on Hwy 9 attempted to turn left on Vaughan Road when it struck a 2019 Ford pickup truck on the driver’s side.

According to troopers, the driver and the front passenger of the Ford were both taken to the hospital, but the driver died from his injuries on Friday, August 4th.

The victim has been identified by the coroner as Charles Jeter, III, 61, of Union.

The driver of the Chevy pickup truck has been charged with unlawful passing, according to troopers.

A Personal Injury Lawyer’s Perspective:

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Charles Jeter, and our continued prayers are with the passenger that was injured as well. It is never easy to learn of another tragic death that could have been avoided by safe driving practices.

As the driver of the Chevy pickup has been charged, fault in this case has already been established. As a result, the victim’s family would have a strong foundation to file a wrongful death suit. A lawyer can file on behalf of the victim’s family so that they receive the full compensation they are owed.
